Thieves in Lofa County

Several persons have been adjudged guilty by the Zorzor District Magisterial Court of stealing several solar panel lights in Fissibu, Lofa County.

 Zorzor District Magisterial Court Judge on June 21, handed down a guilty verdicts against Jerry Weah, Flomo Subah, Jerry Dukully for stealing the Solar Panel Lights In Fissibu Town, Ziyeama Clan in Zorzor District.

 Suspect Jerry Weah was found guilty of criminal facilitation and ordered to pay a fine of US$ 150 or go to jail for three months, while Jerry P. Sumo, Flomo Subah and Jerry Dukully were  found guilty of theft of property for stealing the Solar Panel ;lights.

The Court ordered them to restitute the stolen Solar Panel Lights or go to jail for 12 months, while Flomo Bestman was acquitted  by the court due to lack of evidence of his involvement in the crime..

The men were recently arrested by the Liberia National Police following a tip-off, charged and sent to the Zorzor Magisterial Court for theft of the solar lights barely a week after President George Manneh Weah’s visit to Lofa County during which he installed several solar panel lights in Fissibu Town.

Meanwhile, several citizens and residents of Lofa County have condemned the act committed by the convicts, and called for tougher actions against would-be violators.
