The legal team of the Mayor of the City of Monrovia, Jefferson T. Koijee and Mr. Varley Tellay, has disclosed their clients’ willingness to allow the Justice Ministry’s investigative team to have access to their cell phone numbers, to enable the cell phone mobile companies in Liberia to provide the investigative team with the call logs, specifically to determine the dates and their locations during the time of the incident at the former Chief justice’s home.
According to the mayor’s legal team, it is intended to demonstrate their dedication and willingness to investigate the demise of the former Chief Justice’s daughter, Charlotte Musu, following an alleged armed robbery incident months ago.
“In furtherance of my commitment and willingness to conduct a transparent criminal investigation, we at this moment inform your office that we waive our right to privacy over our cell phone numbers so that the cell phone mobile companies in Liberia (Orange Communication and LoneStar Communication) provide your investigative team with the call logs of our clients to determine the dates and locations of our clients, including the Honorable Jefferson Tamba Koijee and Mr. Varley Tellay,” the communication states.
The mayor’s legal team, which comprises lawyers from Consortium of Legal Practitioners Incorporated, has guaranteed their clients’ commitment to the investigation as it involves them, just as they have demonstrated throughout the process.
On Wednesday night, February 22, 2023, tragedy struck the home of Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott after men believed to be armed robbers invaded her home, brutally killed her daughter, and wounded another victim.
Following the said attack on the home of the former chief justice, there have been speculations about the involvement of the Mayor of the City of Monrovia, who individuals accuse of sending Mr. Varley Telleh to perpetrate the act.
Though she didn’t confirm that it was Varley Telleh who has been accused as the alleged perpetrator of the crime, Councilor Scott revealed that the person she pepper sprayed that night was the same person that killed Charloe Musu.
It’s been over two months since the police stated they were investigating the case, but they have reneged on making available the actual report.
Because of this, many have speculated that the incident was masterminded by the former Chief Justice, something they see as a controversial reason why the police are refusing to provide the report.
