-Children with disabilities pleads with government and In’l partners.

Children living with disabilities at the African Fellowship International Disability Center in Barndersville, have called on government and international partners to empower children living with disabilities through the creation of specialized schools for people living with disabilities.

At the occasion marking a donation ceremony, the disabled kids stated that there is a persisting need for educational empowerment for disabled children, especially those who cannot see, hear, and talk.

They added that primary and secondary education are not enough for them to contribute to society and have them lifted from their current state of being.

It is evident that there is no higher learning institution for those living with disabilities of sight, speech, and hearing impediments across the length and birth of Liberia.

People with disabilities found within this area of impediments are left to attain only primary education as there are limited high schools and absolutely no higher learning institution for people living with disabilities in Liberia.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, the ACFI School for the deaf and disabled donated assorted materials intended for the upkeep of the disability center, and promoting livelihood for people living with disabilities on the disability mission in Barnesville.

Children’s Educational and Developmental Support Center is a humanitarian organization established in 2016 to cater to the needs and welfare of special needs and abandoned children in Africa. 

Since its establishment, the CEDS has directed its scope of operation to provide medical supplies, food, clothes, water, sanitation supplies, pampers, medications as well as entertainment materials and treatment for kids living with disability from birth to 15 years old, with the intent of having all children with special needs in society.

Conspicuously, the director for child services at the DenniseWorji added that donation is intended to keep smiles on the faces of children living with disabilities.

She stated that if children with disability are supported with their needs and made to feel a part of society, their future will perish.

Furthermore, she alluded that children with disabilities when catered to and educated, play a major role in nation building.

At the same time, the director of the national commission on Disability lauded the Children’s Education and developmental support center for their continuous support to children living with disability, adding that the donation will go a very long way in the lives of the kids living with disabilities.

Daintowon Domah Pay-Bayee continued by calling on parents of children living with disability to ensure that children born with disability have access to information and education.

She asserted that children living with disability have limited access to important resources that empower and promote livelihood.

At the same time, Alexis T. Worji Jr., the Executive Director of Children’s Education and developmental support center – in Liberia called on the government through the National Commission on Disability to create a kids’ section at the Commission to ensure that children living with disability are heard.

In furtherance, Worji urged donors to also extend their donations to children living with disabilities, stating that children with disabilities are the most vulnerable and are at a disadvantage point of society.

Worji went on by lauding his international partners “Need Care” for their continuous support of the children living with disability across Liberia.

Receiving the donation, the principal of the African Fellowship International Harriston Judoe lauded CEDS – Liberia for the support for children living with disabilities.

He added that there is a persisting need for the empowerment of children living with disabilities. Adding that children living with disabilities, especially the death and dom need education at a higher level.

Judoe also noted that kids with disabilities when educated, can serve society in various professional areas. With this, he called for a higher institution of learning for people living with disabilities.

“If these children are educated, they can serve as doctors, and other professionals that are vital to society building. There is a need to support these kids with education through the establishment of higher learning institutions for the deaf, blind, and dumb” Judge concluded.
