Opposition leader of the Movement for Progressive Change , Mr. Someone Freeman has outlined digitization and privatization as his administration top priorities, in unleashing the potential and prospects of the Liberian economic and governance.
According to Mr. Freeman, for too long- and government after another, the different administration have failed to look in the area of digitalization and privatization, something he believes has caused Liberia to be poor and underdeveloped both in governance and economic growth.
Speaking Monday in Monrovia, the opposition politician said that his government when indicated into officer after the October 10 Presidential and legislative elections will diversify the country economic with particularly attention on privatization and digitalization.
“My government will focused on two major areas that are now bringing growth to many countries and that includes privatization and digitalization. Liberia is poor with high poverty because we have refuse to diversify. We will ensure that major sector of the Liberian economic are privatized to speed economic growth and recovery. We will also look at digitalization to mitigate corruption because you will not need people to have transaction and also there is nothing about government that will be hidden” he stated.
Mr. Freeman noted that Liberia needs people of expertise to solve problem in order to prevent the country from doing what he describes as the normal ” akay way” which he believes is killing Liberia.
He further indicated that Liberia telecommunications sector under his administration will be run by private company but in a more different manner were private company will not be the ones to construct tower rather another private company while they pay fees to the company to maintain the effectiveness and efficiency.
“We will also give the health sector, education and road construction to the private sector while we do little maintenance and supervisor role. These are things that will help us. We want to run a very small government but efficiency’s effective to meet the wants and demand of all its citizens,” Mr. Freeman pointed out.
The opposition politician disclosed that privatization of the country economic will open and create numerous jobs opportunities for Liberian because there will be factories and companies all across the country.
According to him, when President George M. Weah came to power, his administration cut down workers salary after they employed over fifteen thousand individuals in government.
He added that if the government was going to do divert its attention to private sector investment could have enable Liberian being employed in the private sector in factories and companies instead of putting the country in huge debt.
“Empowering the workforces of our country to have the capacity and knowledge to work in factories and companies will be our objective. Liberia has one of the highest rainforest in the world and so when we diversify the country economic to factories instead of export we will do more. Liberia has the solution to its poverty and unemployment issues because we have the land and rainforest. We just need to move to factory” he noted.
Mr. Freeman believes that moving the country economic to factories will reduce prostitution, and disadvantage youths across the country, especially the many motorcyclists Liberia currently has.
