The Executive Protection Service (EPS) and several other government employees are expected to be audited beginning with the Ministry of State (MOS).

Recently, the Assistant Minister of State disclosed that they had discovered about 700 hundred persons who were not covered under the Civil Service Agency (CSA) process.

However, addressing the Presidential Press Briefing at the Executive Mansion on Friday, February 16, 2024, Presidential Press Secretary, Kula Fofana disclosed that the issue of the bloating of the CSA of people who are within different line ministries and agencies is not only with the Ministry of State but cut across other government agencies and ministries.

According to her, by Monday, February 19, the CSA, MOS, and General Auditing Commission (GSA) will begin personnel audits of both the MOS and the EPS.

Fofana said that one of the issues is the overcrowdedness of the EPS with people who may not necessarily have the qualifications or training is a serious concern that needs to be solved.

“So the purpose is, we are going to assess the entire EPS force. You know the EPS is the Executive service and one should be trained to the standard to be able to hold that role so, yes, the EPS is also reviewing their portfolio and they will be updating us and the President on the next course of action”, she added.

Speaking further, the Presidential Press Secretary mentioned that different things have happened and are to happen throughout the time such as more training for the EPS that will bring some class of professionalism across all of the security apparatus, especially the EPS.

She revealed that by Monday, February 19, 2024, the CSA along with the MOS and General Auditing Commission (GAC) will also commence a personnel audit of people who were at the MOS during the past regime.

“The personnel audit requires them to provide information of the work they are doing including employment information. This will help us to put the system in place. This also includes the EPS”.

Speaking to the 700 persons who were discovered at the MOS, Kula said they were not officially employed with the government but were being paid from the supplementary budget managed by someone from the Ministry of Finance and MOS.

“These are actual people who are within the system of the MOS
